uxlog

  1. find a way to explain to users a complicated process and its value proposition in a sentence.
  2. whenever possible take the most future-proof way of sizing an element.
  3. identify the difference between when WHO did what is more important than who did WHAT.
  4. find the right order of activities and page types to bubble up to reinforce the idea of community.
  5. assume some portion of the users will change their mind constantly after performing an action or stop second guessing their intentions?
  6. soon or later, everything is going to start looking like a problem that’s best solved with a tab interface. resist the temptation.
If you saw two guys named Hambone and Flippy, which one would you think liked dolphins most? I’d say Flippy, wouldn’t you? You’d be wrong though. It’s Hambone.

Very simply, Silverback is an OSX application to help people run their own low-cost Guerrilla usability tests. It captures screen activity, records audio and video from your built in iSight, and then composites it into a handy Quicktime movie for later use.
The serendipity enablers at StumbleUpon said today they’ve added support for CollegeHumor, Funny or Die, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Veoh and vbs.tv videos for their video discovery service, StumbleVideo.
