shredded heaven (via soxiam)sometimes it’s strange how things work out by themselves. i used to love zen palate - a veg. joint near union square. it was one of those rare places where i could order lunch from 3-4 times a week without ever getting sick of it. it got to be so that i would call and the lady would say “sox? shredded heaven, right? 15 minutes.” it was wonderful but then they closed down suddenly.today i tagged along with a group of people heading out to lunch to this hole in the wall chinese joint on 3rd and 16th. when we got there we noticed that things were changed. they spruced up the place nicely, changed the name to “dang lai palace” and it was under new management now turned into a veg. joint. then i noticed some familiar things on their menu - mango halo, mapa tofu, and shredded heaven!as i was leaving i asked the lady if this was zen reborn. she told me they hired the chef from zen palate.
