i am still at least 2 weeks out from walking like a normal person with two legs or even starting to think about clipping them into pedals. the dirt encrusted glacier is finally starting to recede  so i can see my neighbors’ kids playing on the yard over the recently erected mount yonkers. my shiny new custom frame i’ve been waiting 5 months for has been built up with even shinier parts and patiently waiting for me to devirginize her in the dark, damp storage room. my courageous cat once again tries to approach me but stops cold and turns around in disgust once he gets a whiff of my leg with enough tiger balm to kill a small tiger. the mercury reaches 55 in new york and the sun is beating down like it never forgot how to do its damn job. the crystal treble of an ice cream truck song is cutting so sharply right through the laziness of saturday afternoon’s vacuum where it’s too late for snow blowers and too early for lawn mowers. there’s vigor and life spouting up all round my block i can almost hear it like the insects eating through dead tree limbs. the flowers around a tombstone are always the brightest.
