Google design: The kids are alright « fox @ fury
i can respect someone’s rebuttal especially if the person has direct experience with the organization and the process he’s commenting on. but it’s precisely tidbits like this that makes you question the motivation and the validity of the argument. making claims like how google ultimately make decisions to “serve you the user better” and then making a cliche comparison to sales reps working on commissions asking for flash skyscraper slot is not the right way to convince me. you’re opening the door for me to respond with equally cliche responses like “how does the google ads help the users in gmail?” do most users really prefer to see ads on their personal correspondence? well then… “prove it”. why not instead try to comment intelligently on the general perception out there that most google products, while useful, always feel like they are designed by the engineers for the engineers?
